My Studio
Towards the end of 2006, my dearest partner, George, found an amazing space for me, just ten minutes roll down the hill from our home. I was ecstatic and rushed round to see the place. I met the landlord and the place was mine. It really is a perfect studio: heaps of natural light and space, with high ceilings and wooden floors. I share the building with other creative people who are very friendly, so it's nice to have a break from time to time and have a chat with them about what they're up to.
Everyone who has visited me comments on how wonderful the studio is and I know that I am incredibly lucky to have it. A lot of people also tease me about how tidy the place is. I'm not at all obsessive (I can't be with all that dust floating around from the cabinet maker next door), but I do like to have 'a place for everything and everything in its place'. In preparation for Surrey Artists Open Studios 2008, I changed my studio around to make it more visitor friendly, so it now looks a little different from the photo below. There's also a tad more glass, but am I ashamed?
I can hardly believe that I've been there for almost 4 years and it continues to be an inspiring place to work. Should you wish to pop in for a visit and spend some time with me, you are always welcome! I am there most days, including some weekends, so just send me an email to let me know when you'd like to visit and I'll get the kettle on.
